About
The Artist
Norfolk based Artist, Vonchi Phillips, has been dedicated to the transformation and natural evolution of her art for over 40 years. Having grown up in Buckinghamshire, she began her artistic journey as a lost wax moulder at the renowned Burleighfield House in Loudwater, working with artists such as Henry Moore, Elisabeth Frink and Clive Barker.
In subsequent years, Vonchi went on to explore sculpture, paint and her signature style of fluid art, through acrylics, inks and mixed media. Her acrylic “Flow” series led her to the exploration of Alcohol inks and the minute ever-evolving, singular worlds they unearth.
“I have a spontaneous curiosity with my work and allow the minutiae of life to affect its themes, subjects and colours. Inks and acrylics are constantly shifting and moving, and these structures, no matter how big or small, represent the changing world around us.”
Settling in Norfolk 2 years ago, she has sought to discover new techniques and themes within her art, influenced by the county's expansive skies and the circulating influence of the rural environment.
“My process is instinctive, drawing upon this influence to touch the natural human emotion that is bubbling inside, well, each one of us! I strive to let my work present the emotionally charged details of our surroundings and, therefore, akin to life itself, their constantly shifting perspective.“
Her mediums include acrylics, alcohol inks, resin and mixed media, in tandem and as isolated works.
